On August 31, 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Revising and Issuing the Style and Code Coding Rules of the Type Approval Certificate for Radio Transmitting Equipment, which optimized the style and code coding rules of the Type Approval Certificate for Radio Transmitting Equipment and came into effect on December 1, 2023.
Main changes in the new version of model approval certificate
This time, the model approval certificate is adjusted to the form of home page and attached pages, and the contents of the certificate are increased accordingly. The changes are mainly reflected in:
1. The equipment technical information in the new certificate is clearer. With the expansion of new radio technology and application and the popularization of integrated terminal equipment, the original certificate style is difficult to reflect relevant information; The main information such as the name of the certified unit and equipment in the new certificate is reflected in the home page, and the specific information such as technical parameters is reflected in the attached page, which is convenient and complete to record different technical systems and corresponding technical parameters.
2. New OEM information. The old certificate only contains the name of the applicant, not the OEM; Attached page 2 is added to the new certificate, which contains the information of the equipment manufacturer, enterprise attributes and address, so as to facilitate the applicant to change the relevant information and carry out supervision and inspection on the production capacity of the enterprise;
3. The new certificate style meets the relevant requirements of the electronic license standard, and promotes the paper type approval certificate to accelerate the transition to the electronic license.

Model approval code change
Previously, the model approval code format was in accordance with the requirements of the Notice on Changing the Model Approval Code Format of Radio Transmitting Equipment (No.9 [2009] of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology), and the model approval code was in the form of CMIIT ID：XXXXYZNNNN, with a total of 10 digits (up to 11 digits), where XXXX stands for the year number (4 digits), Y stands for the equipment type (1 digit) and Z stands for the origin identification (1 digit)
The newly revised Coding Rules for Model Approval Codes of Radio Transmitting Equipment adjusts the format of the model approval codes to CMIIT ID：AABCCDDDEEEE, in which the CMIIT ID remains unchanged, and the model approval codes total 12 digits, in which AA stands for year code (2 digits), B stands for equipment code (1 capital letter), CC stands for territorial code (2 digits), and DDD stands for enterprise code (3 digits, including at least 1 digit).
Changes in the new version of the model approval code are mainly reflected in the following aspects.
1. The original code was obtained together with the certificate, and the new code was obtained in advance when the applicant submitted the application for model approval;
2. The number of code bits is increased to 12 bits compared with the original 10-11 bits;
3. Add enterprise code class to code type;
4. The year code is reduced to 2 digits;
5. Compared with the original 10 categories, the types of equipment codes are reduced to 8 categories;
6. Adjust the original 1-digit origin identification to 2-digit territorial code, which is convenient for identifying the information of the registered place of the applicant enterprise;
7. If the original serial number is changed to an independent code, the applicant can compile it by himself according to the rules. For example, 23C11AA1A001 represents a public network mobile communication device produced by an enterprise in Beijing (code AA1) in 2023, and A001 is the independent code of the device.

Rules and precautions of enterprise independent coding
According to the newly revised Coding Rules for Type Approval Codes of Radio Transmitting Equipment, the applicant can independently compile the type approval codes according to the coding rules, and enterprises should pay attention to the following matters when coding independently:
1, the independent preparation of model approval code shall abide by the laws and regulations of radio management, and shall not violate the public order and good customs, nor shall it cause ambiguity.
2. The independent code part is generated by the applicant according to the rules, and the applicant should strengthen the management of independent codes to avoid submitting duplicate or invalid codes when applying. After the application for model approval is accepted, the applicant shall not change the model approval code by himself.
3. The year code is the year when the application is submitted. For applications whose application and certification time are not in the same year, the application time is still filled in.
4. If the applicant gives up compiling the independent code, the independent code will be randomly generated by the system.
5. The model approval code can be obtained when submitting the application, but the actual effect is still after obtaining the certificate. Only after obtaining the model approval certificate can the enterprise produce and sell the relevant radio transmitting equipment.
Is the original model approval certificate and code still valid after the release of the new regulations?
After the new version of the model approval certificate and coding rules are formally implemented, the old version of the certificate and the original code (CMIIT ID number) are still valid within the validity period of the certificate, and no adjustment is needed. If the old certificate needs to be extended or changed, the applicant can submit an application according to the relevant provisions of radio management. After obtaining the new certificate, the CMIIT ID number remains unchanged. For the newly applied equipment, the new version of model approval certificate and code will be obtained according to the new regulations.
What is SRRC certification?
SRRC certification is a compulsory wireless certification in China. Name: China Radio Transmitting Equipment Type Approval Certificate. It is a compulsory certification for electronic products with wireless, Bluetooth and transmission frequency.
